Skin Treatments Explained

The world’s number one depigmentation treatment.

A cosmelan treatment differs from other skin brightening chemical peels in its ingredients.

It is designed to treat the specific symptoms of melasma, which can occur during hormone changes in the body due to pregnancy or menopause, and hyperpigmentation, which can occur due to sun exposure or genetics.

It is a one-off treatment process that includes approximately 3 months worth of home aftercare products.

Microdermabrasion is a great modality for treating some forms of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, sun damage, blemish and other forms of superficial scarring, enlarged pores, congestion, uneven skin tones and a dull complexion.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, vigorous exfoliation procedure which gently resurfaces the skin and encourages skin regeneration, with little to no down time.

It also has the added benefits of increasing your circulation supporting oxygenation and nutrient delivery whilst aiding your lymphatic system to remove toxins and pathogens.

All treatments at Llúme are performed with an Australian engineered and made Clairderm Microdermabrasion system. The Clairderm offers both methods of microdermabrasion available on the market – medical grade mineral crystals passed over the skin at high velocity with mild suction or a diamond encrusted tip that brushes over the skin with the aid of mild to moderate suction.

Unlike many other clinics, we prefer to be able to offer both forms of microdermabrasion as each can be particularly effective in treating different skin conditions. This allows us to fully customise the treatment in order to obtain specific results… we may even use a combination of both as many skins consist of different textures across the face.

Microdermabrasion removes all dead cells from the skins surface, it also creates a very permeable foundation for infusing concern specific concentrates.

Perfect for a pre-occasion pick me up or as a part of a treatment course.

Tips for Optimum Results and Safety

Look after your beautiful, newly revealed cells post treatment by keeping your skin well nourished and hydrated with the suggested skin care. As always, wear a minimum SPF 15 and 100% pharmaceutical grade mineral makeup to ensure you don’t devitalise and re-congest your fresh new skin and are protected from the sun.

FOR TREATMENT OF:  Acne, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, rosacea, diffused redness, some forms of pigmentation, scars and various signs of ageing such as fine lines, skin firmness, tone and texture and enlarged pores.

LED Phototherapy is a process of exposing the skin to specific wavelengths in the visible light spectrum in order to energise skin cells and activate cellular activity (photo-modulation).

Measured wavelengths send light to various levels in the skin where cells are responsible for particular rejuvenation or repair processes and some of these specific wavelengths have the additional benefits of having antibacterial, germicidal and calming effects in the skin.

This provides a super effective, non invasive, non thermal (no heat/discomfort), zero downtime and safe (no harmful rays such as UVA or UVB) treatment modality for a wide range of skin concerns.

LED application can also dramatically increase the rate of wound healing, promote feelings of wellbeing and studies have shown it to increase hydration levels in the skin by up to 600%!

The Australian engineered and manufactured Sapphire Photonlite provides the latest in LED technology, providing not only monochromatic treatments (one wavelength), but also polychromatic programs using a variety of wavelengths simultaneously to attain multiple results in one treatment. There are 3000 powerful light emitting diodes (LEDs) on three adjustable wrap around panels allowing a greater surface area to receive concentrated and even exposure.

Allow us to shed some lovely LED light on you.

Tips for Optimum Results and Safety

Phototherapy sessions are recommended in a treatment course of 3-12 sessions for best results (dependent on concern). Remember that any results obtained in salon are likely to be reversed quickly without good day to day home practices. Look after your skin post treatment by using the suggested skin care.

As always, wear a minimum SPF 15 and 100% pharmaceutical grade mineral makeup to ensure you don’t devitalise and congest your skin and are protected from the sun.

Only available with a full consultation to ascertain suitability and consent and release forms signed. Contraindications may apply and will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Oxygen Therapy replenishes lost oxygen and revitalises the skin, visibly plumping out lines and wrinkles.

As we age, oxygen levels in the skin decrease resulting in poor cell functionality and the formation of lines and wrinkles.

The results from Oxygen Therapy are immediate, hailing this treatment as a ‘pre red carpet’ must amongst celebrities, but an Oxygen facial also continues to work long after the treatment, stimulating cell regeneration.

During the treatment, pressurised or hyperbaric oxygen is swept over the skin with a wand providing a cooling effect and also penetrating concentrated, concern specific topicals deep within the skin.

The benefits are countless – it rehydrates and rejuvenates skin, increases micro circulation, helps skin recover from sun damage, has a ’plump up’ effect giving an instant lift and glow, diminishes expression lines and deep eye contours instantly, evens skin tone providing a brighter complexion and defines eye contour and overall skin clarity.

At Llúme we offer facial rejuvenation through cosmetic injectables. These are treatments performed by qualified specialists that come into our clinic on a regular basis for clients wanting such procedures.

All must book an appointment time and clients must be seen by the Doctor and consultation forms completed prior to being treated.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

Anti Wrinkle Injections block signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. It is most often used on crow’s feet, forehead lines and frown lines.

Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Scultra are used as an effective treatment for deep lines and wrinkles. They can help reduce deep lines and wrinkles, fill hollows, enhance sunken cheeks and smooth contours of the face.

How long does it take?

The injection process itself is over in just a few moments. You can expect to spend time consulting with your practitioner, as well as steps occurring prior to the actual injections, such as applying a topical anaesthetic and planning where the injections are to be made. As soon as the injection process is complete, clients are free to leave the salon.

How long will it last?

Injectables can last typically 3-4 months. Over time, enzymes released by the the body break down and eliminate the toxin. The result is that muscle movement gradually returns and the old wrinkles start to reappear.

Is it painful?

Any injection can hurt, but the needles used for Botox injections are very small, so pain is minimal. The area can be numbed with topical anaesthetic cream or cold pack 10-20 minutes before the injections are given, so you may not feel much pain (if any).

Skin Peels are a fast and sure way to obtain truly visible anti-ageing and corrective results to almost all skin types and conditions.

Unlike the earlier aggressive ‘high trauma’ skin peel options, our selected range of superficial to deep professional clinical strength peels are designed to provide a safe yet just as effective biological change in the skin with comparatively little to no downtime.

Targeting a range of concerns, we offer peel formulations in varying strengths, providing phenomenal results in clarifying, smoothing and re-texturising the skin whilst accelerating the cellular proliferation required to increase collagen production and combat ageing.

As with all of the skin treatments we provide, a thorough skin analysis and consultation preludes any of my peel treatments to ascertain suitability taking into account you skin type, condition, depth of colour and preparation.

Consultation is included in treatment times.

The objective of skin needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is to build up the connective tissue in the lower skin layers (the dermis), essentially remodelling it to become smoother, thicker, firmer and more evenly toned.

CIT does this by creating controlled trauma to the dermis and therefore stimulating it to self repair with more structural support (growth factors, collagen and elastin) than what would otherwise occur in the natural regeneration of aged skin. This healing cascade also brings a concentration of life giving nutrients and oxygen from the blood stream to the dermal cells.

The micro channels created in the surface layers of the skin (the epidermis) are also utilised in this treatment to infuse concern specific concentrates with up to 80% more penetration than when it is applied to a perfectly intact surface.

The result? A bright and hydrated new skin with a truly more youthful appearance! Dramatically reduced appearance of wrinkles, pore size, pigmentation, acne scarring and a much thicker and tauter skin.

CIT can also give other forms of scarring and stretch marks a real run for their money by breaking up or softening the fibrous tough tissue (collagen) and replacing it with the healthy ‘basket weave’ texture of normal dermal tissue with exceptional results.

In all cases, the most remarkable results are seen after a course of treatments, however a definite improvement can be noted from just one. And the best news is that improved collagen production in the area occurs for up to 24 months post treatment!

The latest innovation in skin needling is the DermapenTM. Unlike the progressively traditional dermal rolling and its aggressive angled needle entry, the powered DermapenTM unique, disposable, spring loaded micro needle head smoothly glides over and gently ‘stamps’ the skin vertically, creating up to 1300 micro channels per second.

This creates much less discomfort, epidermal damage and downtime. The treatment is considerably more controlled, supremely more effective and infinitely safer….no epidermal tearing, no bent needles, effectively treats difficult-to-reach areas. The adjustable needle depth means it’s gentle enough for use under the eye and around the lips (fabulous for smokers lines!) and once the depth is set, it ensures that it is consistent.

Your safety is of utmost importance to us and therefore a strict sterile procedure is followed throughout the entire treatment. A medical strength topical anaesthetic is applied to take away the ouch factor and other than the appearance and feel of mild sunburn for 12 – 48 hours and potential slight dryness for up to 4 days, the only evidence left are the benefits!

Face, neck and décolletage treatments include a full consultation and skin analysis, topical anaesthetic and a soothing/healing LED phototherapy session.

Tips for Optimum Results and Safety

Take care of your emerging youthful new cells post treatment by keeping your skin well nourished and hydrated with the suggested skin care.

As always, wear a minimum SPF 15 and 100% pharmaceutical grade mineral makeup to ensure you don’t devitalise and re-congest your fresh new skin and are protected from the sun.

In addition to the benefits of the concentrate selected, this treatment is ideal for ageing skin with slackened elasticity that is lacking firmness.

Micro channeling is a unique and new, shallower form of skin needling that creates micro ‘pathways’ for concentrated topicals to be delivered into the skins all important papillary layer.

This is the where nutrients are supplied to the epidermis, or upper visible layers of the skin naturally and by directly infusing highly concentrated, concern specific additives here via micro channels, the skin receives them as if they were their own, delivering incredibly fast and targeted results.

Unlike Collagen Induction Therapy, this depth of needling is above the capillaries and nerve endings, and therefore ensures no bleeding, pain or downtime, and eradicates the need for topical anaesthetic.
